It sleeps six across three bedrooms, and for anyone travelling with dogs the two things that matter are the fully enclosed garden and the position: the dog-friendly beaches of the far west are a short drive, valley and cliff walks start close to the door, and St Just itself is about twenty minutes on foot.
Up to two pets are allowed, at £25 per pet per week. The welcome is a real one rather than a tolerance: guests travelling with dogs describe a dog bowl put out with treats in it alongside the breakfast hamper, and an owner who calls by to check everyone has settled in. Parties regularly arrive with two dogs plus children and report room for both, and at least one household has brought cats rather than dogs, so it is worth asking if you are travelling with something other than a dog.
The garden is the feature dog owners keep returning to. They describe it as secure and a good size, somewhere a dog can be let out while the car is unpacked, with garden furniture, a barbecue and a hot tub that gets rated highly after a day on the cliffs. Inside, a log burner and a very well equipped kitchen come up repeatedly, and the finish is a step above most dog-friendly lets.
Two caveats. The house sits close to a fast road and has another property directly behind it, which some guests barely noticed and others found intrusive. More importantly for a dog, reviews describe the cleaner, gardener and owner crossing the garden during the adjoining property's Saturday changeover, with gates left open so a dog could get out and another dog walked through. An enclosed garden is only as secure as its gates, so it is worth confirming access arrangements if you are relying on it for a dog that bolts.
Best suited to families or groups travelling with up to two dogs who want a genuinely comfortable house, a secure garden and a hot tub, with the far-west beaches and coast path within easy reach.
