How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 2 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 10 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.2/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet policy at a glance
- Up to two pets per booking.
Pet-friendly summary
Lakeland View Lodge sits on a quiet holiday park in the Troutbeck valley, a couple of miles north of Windermere village, and the feature dog owners keep coming back to is the gated decking. A fenced deck off the front means a dog can be let out without a lead and without a scramble for the door, and the bifold doors fold right back so the inside and the outside of the lodge run together on a decent day.
Up to two pets are accepted. The park helps as much as the lodge does: it is built on a hillside with plenty of grass, it stays quiet, and there is a pub and restaurant plus a reception shop on site, so an evening out does not mean loading everyone back into the car. Guests travelling with dogs describe clear arrival instructions and a lodge that is properly stocked, down to bedding, washing facilities and the small things most self-catering places forget.
The hot tub is a large part of the appeal and is checked each morning by park staff rather than left to guests, which is worth knowing if you have wrestled with a self-managed one before.
Two things to plan around. Wi-Fi on the park has been unreliable to the point of unusable even when paid for, and mobile signal is patchy, so treat the stay as a genuine break rather than a working one. And in warm weather guests have noticed a lingering animal smell in the lounge, which is the trade-off of a lodge that takes dogs all year round; opening the bifolds for an hour on arrival usually clears it.
Best suited to a couple or small group with one or two settled dogs who want the hot tub, the gated deck and the on-park pub, and are content to be offline for a few days.
