Ivy Bank is a modern three-bedroom townhouse tucked into a quiet corner of Bowness-on-Windermere, set back from the shops and restaurants but only five to ten minutes downhill from the lake. It has one of the strongest runs of dog-owner reviews of any self-catering property in the Lakes, with a striking number of guests rebooking before they have got home.

One condition is worth knowing before you commit: dogs are asked to stay on the lower ground floor, which guests have pointed out is not obvious from the listing. If your dog normally has the run of the house, or sleeps in the bedroom, plan around that. There is no enclosed garden either, so this is a base for walking dogs rather than turning them out.
