The estate is as much of the draw as the cottage: landscaped shared gardens, a splash pool that keeps children busy, and a private patio with furniture attached to the property itself.
One dog can stay, and dogs are kept on a lead anywhere on the estate. That rule reaches further than owners expect, because the private patio is not fenced on all sides, so it is not the enclosed spot to let a dog off that it looks like in the photographs. Guests with dogs have raised this more than once - the rule makes sense in shared grounds, but a patio a dog could use freely would make a real difference here.
Everything else works well. Guests travelling with dogs call the cottage a good size, very clean and genuinely well equipped, and the welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and sugar goes down well. The double bed sits inside a wooden surround higher than the mattress, which guests have found awkward to climb out of and uncomfortable to sleep on, and the lane up to the property is narrow enough to be a real nuisance in peak summer traffic.
It suits owners of one steady, lead-happy dog who want a clean, well-equipped base a few minutes from Falmouth and its beaches, and who are not counting on off-lead space at the door. On that basis it earns a 4.2 out of 5 paw rating.
