Pet-friendly summary
The Stable at Boskensoe Barns is a barn conversion at Mawnan, on the wooded stretch of coast between Falmouth and the Helford, and it is one of the few holiday lets built around what dogs actually need. The whole place is yours, the grounds are gated, and behind them sits a large enclosed dog exercise field where a dog can have a genuine off-lead run without anyone reaching for a lead or a car key.
That paddock is the thing guests bring up most. It works before breakfast, it works after a long drive, and it works on the wet Cornish days when a proper walk is not happening. Dogs arrive to a bowl, biscuits and waste bags set out alongside a welcome tray of Cornish food, and visitors travelling with two dogs report using the space without any trouble. Two pets are welcome per booking.
The barn itself is finished to a high standard and recently refurbished: two en-suite bedrooms, a wood burner with logs ready, good appliances and a level of attention to detail that guests single out repeatedly. Parking is secure inside the gates, and the setting is quiet enough that the loudest thing most mornings is cattle in the next field.
A few honest notes. Checkout is at 9.30am, which guests consistently flag as early on a getaway day. Storage for clothes is limited on a longer stay, and there are no hooks by the door for leads and wet coats, which is the sort of small thing you notice with a dog. Some of the better beaches nearby carry seasonal dog restrictions in high summer, so a summer trip needs a little planning, although the small coves along this coast stay usable and Trebah Gardens, a few minutes away, welcomes dogs.
It is best suited to couples or a small family with one or two dogs who want a high-end, private Cornish base and would rather have a secure field than a garden gate. It earns a 4.8/5 paw rating.
