Pet-friendly summary
Tuc Tin is a warm, cosy little cottage in the heart of Clun that dog owners return to again and again, and it holds a 4.6/5 paw rating from those who've stayed with their dogs. Several guests are on their second or third visit, some spending Christmas here, and the reasons are consistent: a comfortable home for two, a long garden for the dog and countryside walks straight from the front door.
Inside, internal doors make it easy to keep a wet or muddy dog out of the rooms you'd rather keep clean, and dogs are asked to stay downstairs. The long garden catches the sun and has gated access to the park beyond. Out of the door, there are walks up to Clun Castle and out into the South Shropshire Hills without needing the car, and the two village pubs are a few minutes' stroll, with the White Horse singled out for its food. The caretaker lives next door and is described as friendly and helpful.
The garden is the thing to check before you let a dog off. It isn't fully private, as a neighbour tends the vegetable patch and greenhouse and comes and goes, and gates are not always closed behind him. One owner of a very small dog found gaps in the fence and kept him on the lead all week, and others made a habit of checking the garden first. Some guests also found the cottage a little dark and dated inside, the outdoor seating area tired and next to the oil tank, and noted that it fronts the main road through the village.
For a couple with one dog who want a friendly village, good pubs and walks from the door, Tuc Tin is a lovely choice.
