The Woodland, Great Strickland

The Woodland is a lodge on the Oaklands Country Park site at Great Strickland, in the quiet farmland between Penrith and Shap, and it is built for exactly the kind of trip dog owners take: park the car once, walk from the door, and stop worrying about what the dog does to the floor. The lodge sits on a country park site rather than standing alone in a field, so there are other units and people moving about; fine for a settled dog, less so for one that announces every passer-by. And some booking platforms plot the location inaccurately, since the lodge is the first building at the entrance to the park, so navigate by postcode rather than by the map pin. For a couple or small family bringing two dogs who want the eastern Lakes without the Windermere crowds, it is a practical and comfortable 4.5/5 choice.
