How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 22 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.6/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
The Granary is one of several converted farm buildings at High Cogges Farm, a hamlet in the parish of South Leigh a couple of miles east of Witney and on the edge of the Cotswolds. It is an upside-down conversion - bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, living room and kitchen above - which suits a dog well, since the bed and the door out are on the same level and there are no stairs to negotiate last thing at night.
House rules allow one dog per booking. Only a small number of guests have so far reviewed a stay here with a dog, and what they report is positive: the walking is the thing they pick out. This is a working farm on quiet lanes, with parking right by the door and footpaths straight out into open Oxfordshire countryside. Witney is close enough for supplies and dog-friendly pubs, and the Cotswold villages are an easy drive.
The conversion itself is done to a high standard - good materials, a wood burner that draws well, firewood available cheaply from the owner, and a kitchen that is properly equipped. The farmyard has two resident cats, which is worth knowing if your dog is reactive around them; they keep to the yard rather than the cottages.
A few practical points. The garden area is not enclosed, so a dog that will not recall reliably needs a lead the moment it goes out. The front door opens directly into the ground-floor bedroom, and because the cottages share a yard it is worth locking it rather than leaving it on the latch. And there is nowhere obvious to dry wet things - no airer or pulley - which is the one gap that shows after a rainy walk. WiFi and terrestrial television can both be patchy.
Best suited to a couple or solo traveller with one dog who want a well-finished rural base for Witney and the Cotswolds, with easy parking and walks from the door rather than facilities on site.
