The rear lawned garden is fully enclosed, so dogs can be let out without any fear of them escaping, and households with three or four small dogs report no problems. Everything is on one level, with ramps to the outside, which suits older dogs or dogs with poor sight as well as their owners. The hosts live on the smallholding and leave a generous welcome pack with bread, fresh eggs from their hens, fruit and wine, while still leaving guests to themselves.
The smallholding is home to horses, chickens and the hosts' own cats and dogs, and llamas or alpacas graze just over the fence, so dogs need to be comfortable around other animals. Walks start from the door, with Clee Hill common a short stroll away and far-reaching views from the top, and Ludlow, Bridgnorth and the Wyre Forest are all within easy reach by car.
The caveats are minor. The sitting room is on the small side for a big pack, the front of the bungalow on the bedroom side is not fenced, and the horses can break the silence now and then. The wet room is step-free but could use more grab rails.
