How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 12 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 3 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 7.0/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: August 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Pound Rocks is a large single-storey bungalow tucked just behind Tintagel's high street, which gives it an unusual combination for north Cornwall: you can walk into the village with a dog in a minute or two, then come back to somewhere quiet and private. It is a whole-house rental with a garden that wraps around the building and catches the sun into the evening, and being all on one level it suits an older or stiff-jointed dog, or anyone who would rather not deal with stairs.
The property takes one well-behaved dog. There is no fee, weight limit or breed rule on the listing, so anything beyond that is a conversation with the owner.
The garden is the reason most dog owners book, and for the majority it does its job: reviewers describe it as large, enclosed and safe, somewhere a dog can have a run while people sit in the conservatory. The rear boundary needs a mention, though, because it has failed. Several separate parties have reported a gap in the hedge and fence at the back, hidden behind shrubs, and a six-month-old retriever got through it and was found sitting in a neighbour's porch. The repair was chased through a fortnight's stay without being carried out, and other guests describe keeping their dog in because of an escape hole. Others in the same period call the rear garden completely escape proof, so it may well have been put right since, but it is worth walking the boundary yourself before trusting it with a young dog or a bolter.
Otherwise the house earns steady praise: a high-spec kitchen and bathroom, comfortable beds, off-road parking and a village position reviewers rate highly. The exterior is tired and guests say the outside photographs flatter it, the lawn has been left unmown at times, and the carpets draw criticism as stained and past their best, which is worth factoring in if a dog will be lying on them.
Best suited to dog owners who want a level, spacious base a minute from a village, and who will check the back fence themselves rather than assume it.
