The setting is the main appeal. The cabins sit hidden among trees with no lighting across the site, which suits a calm or reactive dog that prefers peace to bustle. The flip side is that walking straight from the door is limited, and dog owners have found little in the way of pleasant routes on the doorstep. Plan to drive for proper exercise: Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and the Purbeck coast are all within easy reach, and The Tank Museum and Monkey World are a few minutes away for days out.

Housekeeping is the real caveat.
