Myles View is a modern house in the village of Pendeen, in the far west of Cornwall, and it is set up for exactly the kind of holiday most dog owners come to this coast for: long walks straight from the door. The South West Coast Path is a few minutes away, with Portheras Cove, the Carn and a run of rugged headlands within an easy morning, and the beaches at Sennen and around St Ives are a short drive. The village pub, shop and bus stop are all walkable.
Up to two pets can stay, and the welcome is a genuinely warm one. Dogs are met with bowls and treats alongside the hamper of local produce, milk and juice that greets everyone, and the owners tend to call in soon after arrival to introduce themselves and check everything is working. Inside, the house draws consistent praise for being immaculate, warm and generously equipped, with underfloor heating, a log burner and sea views. It is spacious enough for a large group, and can be booked alongside its sister house next door when one party needs both.
The one caveat that comes up repeatedly is the garden. It wraps around both houses and is not dog-proofed, so guests describe supervising their dog outside, keeping them on the lead for every trip out, or tethering them rather than letting them roam. Several have said better fencing would transform the place for dog owners. If your dog needs a secure garden to potter in unsupervised, weigh that carefully; if you are out on the coast path most of the day, it matters much less.
