Its strongest card for dog owners is privacy: guests have found the plot secluded and secure enough to let dogs roam off the lead, which is rarer than it should be in Lakeland self-catering.
One pet is welcome and there is no charge for them. The lodge is a self-contained unit rather than a room in a shared building, so there are no corridors, lifts or neighbours through the wall to think about, and it is warm and cosy once you are inside, which counts for something in a Lakeland winter with a wet dog.
Hawkshead is a ten-minute walk down the lane and has a good spread of pubs and cafes, plenty of which take dogs. The walk into the village follows the road rather than a footpath, so it is one to do on a lead.
