How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 5 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 55 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.4/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: August 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Jowders Cottage is a character-filled whole-house rental tucked into the middle of Marazion, close enough to St Michael's Mount to walk down and look at it before breakfast. Having the place entirely to yourselves is a large part of the appeal with a dog: no corridors, no shared landings, and nobody to negotiate on the way in and out.
Dogs are genuinely welcome here rather than merely permitted, and the cottage earns 4.5 out of 5 from guests who brought theirs. The hosts, Sally and Peter, come up in almost every review for the small touches - a welcome card, fresh flowers, scones with jam and clotted cream - and for pointing guests towards places nearby that will let a dog through the door. A pet charge of £20 applies, and up to three pets can stay.
The location does a lot of the work. Marazion's long beach is a short stroll, the causeway across to St Michael's Mount is on the doorstep, and Penzance, Land's End, St Ives and the Lizard are all within an easy drive for days out.
Two practical caveats deserve real weight. The lane down to the parking bay is very narrow - the property itself says it is unsuitable for vans and larger vehicles - and guests who have driven it in an ordinary car still describe holding their breath. There is also no enclosed garden and no parking at the door, so a dog gets walked rather than let out, and the terrace doubles as a right of way for neighbours, which matters if yours is a gate-bolter. Most guests find the cottage very well looked after; it has not been spotless for everyone, with dust and a stale smell noted on one arrival, and the fireplace has been out of action for at least one stay.
It suits a couple or small family with a dog, arriving in a small or average-sized car, who want a characterful base within walking distance of St Michael's Mount and are happy to walk the dog rather than rely on a garden.
