Pet-friendly summary
Half Moon Cottage is a whole-house holiday let on Silver Street in Lyme Regis, a few minutes above the seafront in one of the prettiest towns on the Jurassic Coast. As a self-contained cottage it gives a dog the run of the place, with no shared entrance, no neighbours through the wall and no reception to walk past.
Up to two pets are allowed per booking, which makes it one of the more workable Lyme Regis lets for anyone travelling with a pair of dogs rather than one. Guests arriving with dogs describe the cottage as spotless, thoroughly equipped for both people and dogs, and set up with a welcome pack waiting on arrival - the sort of preparation that saves a first-night supermarket run.
The location is the other draw. Lyme Regis is compact enough to do on foot, and the walk down leads to the Cobb, the harbour and the seafront, with the South West Coast Path heading off in both directions. Monmouth Beach at the western end is the quieter option for a dog, away from the busiest stretch of the front.
The one practical point is the hill. The cottage sits at the top of a steep climb, which is normal for Lyme Regis away from the front but still a real consideration if you have an older or short-legged dog, or bags to carry up from the car. Everything is downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back.
Half Moon Cottage suits owners of one or two dogs who want an independent, well-kept cottage in the middle of Lyme Regis and do not mind the climb home.
