One caveat is worth reading before you book. Cleanliness is the recurring gripe in the feedback: more than one stay has reported the cottage not being as clean as it should be, and a poor visit described tired decor, ants in the kitchen, an overgrown and littered garden with dog mess left in the yard, and a yard gate that had dropped and would no longer close properly. Most guests report none of this, but a gate that does not latch matters if you plan to let a dog out on its own, so check it on arrival.
