How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 2 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 27 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.8/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: August 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
A large holiday house on Ferry Road in Southbourne, directly across from the beach and within walking distance of Hengistbury Head. It sleeps a big group - guests have stayed as parties of nine - with parking for five cars, which is unusual this close to the seafront.
The location does most of the work for dog owners. Southbourne beach allows dogs along large stretches, and there are designated dog walks close by, so a morning walk does not have to be planned around restrictions. Hengistbury Head, a short walk or drive away, adds heathland and clifftop paths for dogs that want more than sand.
Inside, guests travelling with dogs pick out how well stocked the house is. A dedicated drawer of dog treats sits alongside the kit for children - high chairs, plastic plates and the like - which reads as hosts who expect both and plan for them rather than merely allowing them.
One caveat matters more than the rest, and it comes from guests themselves: the garden is open rather than enclosed. Dogs need to stay on leads outside, and anyone counting on a secure garden to let a dog out unsupervised should look elsewhere. Guests made the same point about small children. Two smaller notes: the windows in the upstairs twin room were flagged as needing restraints, and the outdoor table could do with a windshield.
The booking listing publishes no formal pet policy, so confirm any fee, size limit or cap on the number of dogs directly before booking.
Best suited to a large family or group whose dogs are happy on a lead, who want beach access from the door and do not need a fenced garden.
