How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 3 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.1/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: August 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet policy at a glance
- Up to one pet per booking - the property's booking note confirms that only one pet may stay where pets are allowed.
- No pet fee, weight limit or breed restriction is published in the property's booking details, so confirm these with the owner before you book.
Pet-friendly summary
Polruan sits on the eastern side of the Fowey estuary, reached by the foot ferry from Fowey itself or a long lane around the water, and it is one of the better dog-walking bases on the south Cornish coast. This two-bedroom house stands on Fore Street in the middle of the village, spread over three floors with views out across the water, and the coast path towards Polperro starts a few minutes uphill from the door.
Dogs are welcome, with one pet per booking. Guests travelling with a dog have described the stay as faultless, praising the comfort, the views and how straightforward the key collection is. As a whole-house rental there are no shared spaces, so the dog has the run of the place with you and there is room to dry off and spread out after a wet coast-path walk.
Two practical points. The garage is genuinely small and narrow, and anyone arriving in a 4x4 or a large estate will find parking a squeeze, though off-street parking anywhere in a village this tight is an asset in itself. Bathroom plumbing has also been described as noisy, which is worth knowing if your dog is easily startled at night. Polruan is steep, too, with most of the village built on a hill, so an older or less mobile dog will feel the climb back up from the quay.
It earns 4.5 out of 5 on our paw rating. Best suited to a couple or small family with one dog who want a working Cornish village rather than a resort, and who are happy in a smaller car.
